Seasons of the Church

The Church Year shapes our worship and educational program. It leads us to remember the life and ministry of Jesus. Throughout the church year there are specific liturgical colors for use for vestments and hangings within the context of the Christian liturgy. Although at St. John's we do not use hangings on the altar, pulpit, etc. the liturgical colors are still utilized through the vestments of the pastor. While there are more and more colors recommended, we maintain the traditional ones of green, blue, purple, red and white.

GREEN: The remainder of Epiphany and the entire long season of Pentecost are green. Green is the color of growth during which we explore the mission of Christ and His church.

This website will change colors in keeping with the changes that take place in our sanctuary and the pastor's dress. That is why this site now has a green theme. Return to this page often to stay informed on the Seasons of the Church.
